David did not pass the test of becoming King by practising being a king over his subjects in a palace.
He passed the test of becoming a king while shepherding sheep.
He also CHOSE David His servant, And took him FROM the sheepfolds; From following the ewes that had young He brought him, TO Shepard Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance.

The same thing Jesus said to Peter and James
You were fishing fishes
Now you will fish Men.

Same drive
Same tenacity of purpose
The same with Joseph

He understood the importance of dedication and commitment
He had excellent organizational skills
He was an excellent problem solver
He deployed these
- At home with his father’s business
- At Potiphar’s house
- In prison
And finally at the National level (Palace)
Your assignment is hidden in that which you are currently doing. It is a test! God is watching and the host of heaven is attesting.
Don’t skip the class. It’s all connected! There are different phases of Your assignment. Don’t discredit a phase because it doesn’t give you the spotlight or doesn’t look like where He told you. It might just be the seed of it.
